26th March 2020

Hello everyone

Welcome to issue 2 of our weekly Church News. Things are changing so rapidly that this will reach you before the weekend, since there is quite a lot to say. The most important part is to read Paul's letter to us all which forms the second part of this letter.

We would reiterate that if anyone needs help or prayer, please don't hesitate to contact a church family member or the church office on Tel: 01606 851880 or Email: (all messages will be checked daily).

We are endeavouring to touch base with as many people as we can, but we do ask that you do the same and talk to each other, either by phone or e-mail or other electronic means [we are not all tech-savvy!]

Sadly, we can't keep the church building open for prayer and this has a knock-on effect for receiving items for the food bank, and food can no longer be left here or in the Lighthouse. However, Asda, Waitrose and Tesco in Northwich have Foodbank collection trolleys in their stores. Cheques can be sent to Mid Cheshire Foodbank , Unit 14, Barlow Drive, Winsford CW7 2GN or monetary donations via The foodbank had been feeding about 120 people a week, this has now risen to 100 per day. Please help if you can.

Can we remind you that if you want to pay any money to church, bank transfer is now the best method. John Freeman (852872) is happy to help you set this up. Otherwise please make cheques, out to St. Mary's Weaverham otherwise the bank will not accept them. These or any envelopes can be left in the Lighthouse letterbox which is checked every day. if you don’t already give by standing order then now might be the opportunity to consider moving to this more efficient method, it will certainly help the church during these challenging days. Similarly if you pay tax and don’t already use the gift aid scheme then now might also be time to start giving in this way.

Last week we were encouraged to put a lighted candle in our windows at 7.00pm on Sunday by the Church of England. We are going to try to keep this going in Weaverham every Sunday evening at 7.00pm so please join with this sign of hope and unity if you can. Jesus is the light of the world, and can never be extinguished.

We are hoping to start running some virtual services for St Mary’s using ‘Zoom’! This is a simple system that uses your computer or smartphone to see and talk to other people. If you do not have this you can also phone in. If you would like to test out Zoom, we are having a try out this Sunday. Just click this link to join the meeting at 10am on Sunday 29th March: (then click ‘join with computer audio’). Or phone 0203 481 5240, meeting ID: 512 166 107. A Men’s homegroup is continuing to meet on ‘Zoom’, email Jerry Marshall for details, .

We also have a number of links for those of you who receive this by e-mail to sites where you can listen to services, get daily bible readings etc. These links are:-
